About Us 1

     About  Us

Just like you, we’re animal lovers. We share a lifetime of family pets and volunteer at a couple of shelters. We’ve discovered that it takes dozens of dedicated people, usually working without pay or thanks, to keep animal welfare organizations running smoothly.

It’s these wonderful people that motivated us to create AmericaHelpAnimals.com, a state-by-state clearinghouse for great ways animal lovers around the country are helping animals.  This idea exchange includes simple ways to help, inspirational quotes, animal facts and statistics, as well as our two animal welfare cartoons, Dog Park and Everyday Cat.  You may have seen Dog Park when it was a regular feature in the Humane Society of the United States’ magazine, Animal Sheltering, or in The Pet Press in Los Angeles.

After years of teaching Joanne now works in Disability Services at the University of Minnesota where one of her interests is the role of service animals. Jim, also a former teacher, is now the “Animal Lover’s Real Estate Agent” and donates $500 to a shelter for every house bought or sold. Check out his web site:

So get comfortable and spend some time exploring our web site. Then please take a minute and let us know about your great ideas so we can pass them along.

Happy helping!
